Beth Hart Performs in Nashville, TN

My favorite photos of just Beth! She is a great blues musician and an amazing performer.

Nashville, TN, I met another photographer, my best friend, Karin McDonald from Ohio.
Saturday Night, with some rain we made our way to 3rd & Lindsley to see Beth Hart

They announced, Ladies and Gentleman, Beth Hart!, She walked on stage, grabbed the microphone,  Shouted.."Hey!" Bang, the band started to play! She brought the house to it's feet.

It was fantastic, I've been a fan of the blues all my life and Beth Hart is my all time Favorite Blues Artist!

I am totally stoked I got the chance to photograph her.

Enjoy!
Comments Welcomed.

Aperture - Photographing in Bright Sunlight.

Aperture is great if you can control it. Remember, bigger the number, smaller the opening. This Fstop control is great for photographing in bright sunny conditions. See the Aperture Tutorials here.. http://laymanphoto.blogspot.com/2011/07/aperture-ii.html

Here are examples of aperture control in the images below. Settings are listed.

Verbena Flowers

F11
1/125 shutter
125 ISO

F18
1/125 Shutter
125 ISO,
I decided to pop the red from the background. In doing this, I needed to change my aperture from F11 to F18.

Pansies
F14
1/125 Shutter
125 ISO
I love the rich color, so since the flower was backlit, I decided, I needed to control that.

Another View , same set up as photo above.

I then decided to brighten the hue of the purple by allowing the sun to continue to back light the flower but I opened up my aperture.

Light Painting

In testing my new camera, and using up my glow sticks, I had no real concept of what I wanted to do in light painting, then I thought about the slinky effect,, anyone remember the slinky?

Thanks for following.. sets up for each shot below.

F7.1
4 Sec Shutter

ISO 100
F8.0
16 Sec Shutter
Lighting of the jar and background was done by opening the shutter, turning on studio light for 3 seconds, covering my lens, turning off all lights and uncovering the lens as I used the glow stick

ISO 100
F8.0
29 Sec Shutter
Lighting of the jar and background was done the same as the photo above. The only difference was that I turned on studio lights for 1 sec instead of 3.
